Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Faculty Group Practice Clinical Histo Tech I (Per Diem).
In this role, the successful candidate Position Summary:Responsible for preparing tissue specimens for pathological examination
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs the following routine histologic procedures: Accessioning Grossing/Wrapping of specimens Embedding procedures Section techniques involving hematoxylin and eosin Routine special staining such as demonstration of mucopolysaccharides tissue fibers pigments infectious organisms like bacteria and fungi Cover Slipping Slide documentation
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Trains in the use of new laboratory equipment
- Helps maintain laboratory equipment
- Preparation of solutions required for any histological examination
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree from an approved clinical laboratory technician program A high school degree will only be accepted if the individual has the designated experience defined by NYS and has obtained their NYS license through the grandparenting pathway defined by NYS Six months of experience in a histology laboratory Certification by the NYS Education Department as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Certified Histological Technician is required.
Required Licenses: Certified Histotechnician, Clinical Lab Technician-NYS, Clinical Lab Technologist-NYS
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:BS/BA in Science preferred; American Society of Clinical Pathologists certification as a Histology Technician ASCP HT preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $44.68 – $60.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
