Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Specialist.

In this role, the successful candidate coordinates the patient care training programs and research endeavors for a specialty area of Physical Therapy practice or program within the Physical Therapy department. Assists in the oversight of daily operations of the unit as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with representatives of colleges and universities around the New York Metropolitan area to recruit students from physical therapy, physical therapy aide, and assistant programs to the OIOC clinic.
  • Implements a physical therapy plan designed to achieve goals established in patient clinician partnership for each patient assigned independently: Selects appropriate treatment approaches to maximize patient potential. Skillfully applies treatment techniques during implementation of treatment plan. Observes patient responses to treatment and modifies treatment program according to tolerance. Establishes appropriate goals for the treatment of every patient individualizing the treatment program. Monitors treatment rendered by Staff Physical Therapists and students.
  • Supervises temporary PT, PTA, PT aides, students, and volunteers.
  • Performs worksite ergonomic evaluations as appropriate.
  • Performs tests and evaluations as appropriate with data analysis and report writing.
  • Establishes and performs appropriate treatment plans and delineate goals in partnership with the patient.
  • Practice evidence based care and keeps up to date with clinical research findings and best clinical practices.
  • To assist in Case Management responsibilities as they pertain to the Physical Therapy plan of care for any clients within the unit. To work in collaboration with other unit team members as needed.
  • To identify new equipment that would facilitate programmatic growth and development. To assist with equipment and unit maintenance.
  • Assist in developing the OIOC policies and procedures pertaining to clinical practice.
  • To work in conjunction with staff and management on Performance Improvement and clinical research projects that will benefit the unit and/or the department.
  • Coordinates Physical Therapy patient care rendered to both in and out patients in area of specialized clinical expertise. Education and training of all staff in areas of expertise to further enhance the departments clinical needs.
  • Demonstrate a leadership role in the development of specialized clinical expertise communication and teamwork.
  • Instruct through assignments, lectures, and demonstration students from physical therapy, physical therapy aide, and assistant programs who are training at the OIOC clinic.
  • Initiate and assist in the development of all related educational programs.
  • Demonstrates continued proficiency in skills required to treat assigned patient population.
  • Performs other assigned duties.
  • Assist in the coordination of the student program and other clinical education programs with senior staff and other management.
  • Develops material which will enhance the quality and scope of the care rendered to the patient i e pamphlets, video tapes, home programs in collaboration with other members of the team. Develops resource material to be utilized by staff members i e suggests journals for library accesses research articles etc.
  • Reviews OIOC policies and procedures pertaining to clinical practice.
  • Develops and assists in quality assurance projects monitoring and reporting pertaining to physical therapy practice.

Minimum Qualifications:
NYS Physical Therapy license with valid current registration. Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy. Five (5) years as a licensed Physical Therapist with progressive responsibilities and development in a specific clinical area. Good communication and interpersonal skills. BLS certification Issued by the American Heart Association AHA OR Heartsaver CPR/AED certification Issued by the American Heart Association AHA is required upon entry to the position.

Required Licenses: Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist License-NYS, Occupational Therapist License-NYS

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Physical Therapy or a related field teaching experience. Greater than 5 years clinical experience. Demonstrated leadership qualities.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325.15 – $125,400.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Step 1

Apply Online

Step 2

Schedule Interviews

If selected to continue the interview process, HR will reach out via phone or email first. Then, depending on your position, they will schedule an interview with unit managers or team members. You are encouraged to dress professionally for all interviews.

Step 3

Receive Offer

If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.

Step 4

Training & Orientation

You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
