The Psychology practice in NYU Langone Medical Center’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine provides a complex and fascinating specialty to become involved with. Psychologists working on this team are dedicated to the provision of excellent patient care and integration of advanced clinical research within their practice. They are committed to offering one-of-a-kind training opportunities for students, residents, doctoral candidates and post-doctoral residents and fellows.
Our team is comprised of an eclectic group representing accomplished researchers, published authors, and officers in professional societies such as American Board of Professional Psychology (in both Rehabilitation Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology), the American Psychological Association, the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, and many others. One thing that holds true for all of our psychologists is a commitment to our patients to assist them in dealing with their challenge. In addition, we are committed to the mentoring of new professionals in training. The impact of our work is incredibly rewarding as we help people with disabilities move forward and adjust to new situations in their lives, and assist early career professionals in finding their clinical calling.
Nowhere is this truer than in the work we are performing in Rehabilitation, serving patients with complicated, life-altering conditions such as traumatic brain injury. Our research has made exciting discoveries on how people with brain injuries solve problems and regulate their emotions.
But that’s just the beginning. In addition to trauma, our research work is also involved in areas of resilience, the aging brain, efficacy of treatment and cardiac rehabilitation. Not only do opportunities exist for pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows to participate, we also recruit Data Collectors and Research Assistants to support these Psychology research functions.
It is our vision to become a leading academic institution in providing exceptional clinical care, conducting neurorehabilitation, research, enhancing community mental health, and training outstanding clinicians. Join us at the forefront of innovation as we create new paths to evaluation and treatment.
