Registered Respiratory Therapists at NYU Langone Medical Center provide patient-centered, evidenced-based respiratory care in ICU, sub-acute and general inpatient areas. Every staff member is committed to delivering the best and most comprehensive respiratory care to patients of all ages from neonates to adults. Although most of our care is provided in adult, pediatric and neonatal critical care and sub-acute areas, we support respiratory care in all areas of the Medical Center and participate in patient transport, code blue, and medical response teams.
The Respiratory Care Department is equipped with the latest in state-of-the-art mechanical ventilation and related equipment for patients of all ages, including conventional, high frequency oscillatory, and jet ventilators. Adult ICU rooms have wall-mounted Servoi ventilators with a full complement of modes and adjuncts including Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist (NAVA).
Our team is recognized for its leadership in helping to develop and implement a multidisciplinary sedation reduction and weaning assessment protocol directed at reducing ventilator days and ventilator-associated pneumonia.
NYU Langone Medical Center prefers to hire Registered Respiratory Therapists holding a baccalaureate degree. We recruit both experienced therapists and new graduates who are bright, energetic, enthusiastic and professional. Excellent communication, interpersonal and team skills are an essential component to success, as is the desire to work for a world-renown organization that can provide unique professional experiences and foster professional relationships.
We reward knowledge, initiative, and experience in many ways, including pay differentials for significant clinical experience or attainment of the NBRC Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist credentials. Ongoing staff development and professional growth is supported through a combination of individual competency programs, onsite CRCE programs, AARC Professor Rounds, cross-training opportunities, and the multiple ongoing presentations and resources constantly available at a leading academic medical center.
The Respiratory Care Department offers manageable workloads, 12-hour shifts that help employees balance home and work life, plus the opportunity to apply your knowledge and be recognized for your clinical expertise.
