Development & Alumni Affairs
Be a change-maker. NYU Langone Medical Center’s Office of Development and Alumni Affairs (“Development”) is offering opportunities to literally change the skyline of New York City. We are at the center of an extraordinary campus transformation that will advance patient care, research, and education in New York and beyond. We have already seen incredible success and now we endeavor to reach even greater accomplishments.
We have already raised over $1 billion towards our transformation – we are one of only a handful of institutions in the U.S. to do so in less than five years. Our efforts have helped to secure over 85,000 gifts, including a number in the $50-$150 million range. We are supporting fundraising efforts across the Medical Center including clinical care, research, and education in critical areas such as Cancer, Cardiac and Vascular, Musculoskeletal, Neurosciences, and Pediatrics. In particular, our major thrust has been, and continues to be, to expand and renovate our physical campus, so that it equals the level of excellence that our physicians, scientists, and students offer every day.
Such philanthropy is believed to have played an important role in our quest for uncompromising excellence. The Medical Center and our faculty and staff have received several distinguished awards. We were recognized on the U.S. News & World Report 2013 – 2014 “Best Hospitals Honor Roll” as a top hospital in the country, and nationally ranked in 12 specialties, including top-ten rankings in Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Rehabilitation, Neurology & Neurosurgery, and Geriatrics. Additionally, NYU Langone Medical Center ranked #2 in New York State and once again ranked #2 in the New York metro area.
While our accomplishments have laid a solid foundation, our sights are set on much further growth – the Development team has an aggressive goal. Philanthropic support is needed to help double our patient care and research facilities by adding or renovating 2.1 million square feet of space and transforming much of our current campus to meet tomorrow’s needs for more ambulatory outpatient care, more intensive–and private–hospital bed care, and more collaborative research space. This expansion includes building the new 800,000-square-foot single-bedded Kimmel Pavilion, a new Center for Musculoskeletal Care, the new Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, a new Center for Emergency Services, advancing initiatives at the new Neuroscience Institute and much more. We are investing heavily in state-of-the-art technology, including a full integration of digital medical records.
Accomplishing such growth is no small feat. Our Development team of approximately 80 members is one of the most robust in the country, allowing an enormous breadth and depth of specialized skills and functions. Our personnel possess a unique blend of individual skill sets and expertise from across a broad array of fields. Team members have hailed from Fortune 500 companies, consulting and financial services firms, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, non-profits, and a number of other creative backgrounds.
Each member of our team is smart, savvy and self-motivated with the creativity and flexibility to thrive in a complex, fast-paced and ever-changing environment. We are constantly expanding and enhancing services, processes and opportunities in the areas of Annual Giving, Corporation/Foundation Relations, Major Gifts, Operations, Planned Giving, Principal Gifts, Stewardship, and Special Events.
