Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager-Finance.

In this role, the successful candidate in this position will be responsible for financial oversight of all departmental grant institutional and philanthropic funds including budget to actual variance reporting reconciliation compliance with applicable policies and regulations dissemination of financial reporting to departmental stakeholders and funds management in alliance with departmental goals. The Finance Manager is expected to add value by overseeing and growing financial and operational data analytics for the department. This will focus on identifying and driving business and decision support analysis to be used by leadership to facilitate informed decisions and generating valuable insights and transparency around all areas of the business. Working in conjunction with Central Finance leadership and the Assistant Director of Neurology the Finance Manager will provide high level financial analysis and strategic guidance to department leadership In addition the Finance Manager will supervise the financial analyst team by helping coordinate daily operations and communicating with departmental leadership on all financial issues

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Reviews monthly reports and works closely with financial analyst s to ensure financial compliance of grants and contracts Oversee the appropriate allocation of personnel salaries and effort for all faculty and personnel
  • Acts as the financial liaison for PIs division leads departmental leadership and central finance teams
  • Responsible for understanding all financial and operational issues and potential impacts

Business Management

  • Provide support for Faculty recruitment by gathering financial inputs for business plans and assessing budgetary impact Works with division leaders to ensure allocation of salary practice expenses and research or administrative support reflect current offer letter/amendment/COR

Compliance and Policy Development

  • Ensure the department meets and follows internal policies set forth by the institution and external policies set forth by federal state and other granting agencies by monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of finance related research activities Remain up to date on changes to policies both internal and external that pertain to compliance budgeting and other factors that impact spending practices Develop a communication plan for new policies and procedures that impact the department which includes methods to facilitate financial compliance

Lead the development and training of the Finance team

  • Identify implement and maintain different tools and resources to facilitate onboarding of new financial analysts and development of existing financial analysts
  • Provide central oversight and management of employee training in any new financial systems/processes
  • Coordinate departmental Finance lecture series with various departments to foster and improve collaboration and operational efficiency

Management of Staff

  • Manages the team of Financial Analysts including but not limited to direct oversight of tasks and responsibilities related to the financial operations for the department such as FY close reconciliations pre and post award purchasing pcards and other financial activities

Data Analytics

  • Development implementation and oversight of financial reporting tools and systems to ensure efficient timely and accurate feedback and action planning to resolve any issues
  • Work with internal partners to identify standard processes and problems in their workflow and translate into scalable analytical and reporting solutions
  • Work with finance and departmental leadership to identify develop and structure reporting for financial operational and clinical/quality initiatives
  • Assist in building financial operational and clinical datasets and models to drive improvement in business efficiency
  • Assist in efforts to build structure of data analytics within the department based on demand and growth

Other

  • Provide adhoc financial reports and special projects upon request for department leadership and central finance leadership team
  • Work with division leadership to monitor all program budgets and financials and streamline communication of data policies and processes within the department
  • Perform monthly analysis of P/L covering various mission areas to confirm accuracy resolve deficits and identify variances to budget
  • Prepare annual operating discretionary program endowment and capital budgets for the department as required
  • Demonstrate strong leadership driving innovation within the team fostering a culture of collaboration through proactive communication and exhibiting effective people management by supervising and mentoring team members

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting Business or Finance related field 3-5 years of relevant work in accounting or financial planning and analysis Must have a sound understanding of accounting and/or finance and a general understanding of grants policies and regulations Strong work ethic and a great understanding of MS Excel Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau Power BI or similar platforms

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Business or Finance area Knowledge of programming languages SQL DAX R Python Understanding of how Language Models LLMs operate and their applications in data visualization and reporting Not for profit healthcare or public accounting background Working knowledge of general ledger journal entries accounts payable accounts receivable and month end close Excellent analytical skills combined with a strong attention to detail and the ability to present complex information in a usable format to a diverse audience Ability to interpret and apply finance and accounting policies practices and systems Ability to multi task and work independently in a fast paced dynamic environment Strong planning organization customer service and written/verbal communication skills Proficiency in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams Computer and Software Skills: Must become and remain proficient in all programs necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities for this role

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 – $120,120.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Step 1

Apply Online

The NYU Langone hiring process begins with you applying through our online portal. Be sure to update and upload your resume. Shortly after you submit your application, you will receive an email confirmation. Ten days after applying you will receive a talent assessment to be completed.

Step 2

Schedule Interviews

If selected to continue the interview process, HR will reach out via phone or email first. Then, depending on your position, they will schedule an interview with unit managers or team members. You are encouraged to dress professionally for all interviews.

Step 3

Receive Offer

If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.

Step 4

Training & Orientation

You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
