Position Summary:
We are seeking a Project Coordinator position to join the PlayReadVIP team in the Department of Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine (PI: Alan Mendelsohn, MD). Our work examines and delivers parenting interventions to improve child development outcomes in at-risk populations at pediatric clinics across New York City (www.playreadvip.org). The candidate will be responsible for multiple tasks and will collaborate and work with a multidisciplinary team of pediatricians, psychologists, and other child development professionals. Exact title (and corresponding responsibilities) will depend on previous experience and qualifications. This position will be based in Manhattan.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Coordination
- Schedule and lead meetings, setting up calls, maintaining meeting minutes.
- Communicate with Primary Investigators, consultants, and collaborators.
- Create project timelines, monitor progress, and update stakeholders as needed.
- Submit and track reimbursements and expenditures.
- Purchase toys and books for intervention across multiple sites,; maintain central inventory of toys and books; purchase supplies, office materials, and testing materials.
- Submit and track payments to contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Assist with fund balance reports, documentation of project expenses, and project budgets.
- Assist with grants administration, including assistance with applications and reports to funders.
- Maintain financial records and receipts organized and on NYU systems.
- Manage schedule and calendar for PI, and assist with scheduling other staff.
- Coordinate logistics for meetings, travel, and events; including scheduling, booking conference rooms/hotel rooms/transportation, preparing materials, arranging catering/meals, setting up calls, maintaining meeting minutes.
- Organize and maintain office supplies, office space, and files for the lab.
- Recruit, onboard, and uphold regulatory processes for new and existing employees and volunteers.
- Receive, unpack/pack, and organize materials and toys/books for program.
- Assist with regulatory tasks (including IRB and personnel compliance).
- Manage day-to-day administrative tasks.
- Collaborate with NYUMC employees, hospital employees, and collaborators.
- Edit and format manuscripts and other documents with appropriate branding.
- Providing administrative support for the PI and project leadership as needed.
- Provide general support as needed related to project or research tasks such as grant preparation, Institutional Review Board, literature reviews, and documentation.
- Assist with communications and outreach.
- Attend community/program events, and occasional travel to local sites as needed.
Additional Research Tasks
- Research and document current research related to culture and relevance, structures and other parenting programs, and other relevant information.
- Analyze best practices and approaches within the field of early childhood programming.
- Coordinate closely with our collaborators to set up meetings and maintain project timelines using Asana.
- Communicate finding and recommendations through written, verbal, and visual outputs (written reports, slide decks, white papers, etc.).
- Assist with data management and data sharing practices across institutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a BA/BS degree (Master’s degree preferred) in developmental psychology, public health, health policy, public policy, healthcare administration, or related field.
2+ years of research experience, and previous experience supervising employees, students, or volunteers. Clear interest in early child development, parenting, and/or public health. Knowledge of Singaporean culture, beliefs, and systems desired but not required. Strong independent writing skills and communication skills. Proficiency with database and statistical software required (for example, Microsoft Excel, SPSS, R, STATA, REDCap); previous experience with database development preferred. Strong organizational skills and timeliness. Flexibility to accommodate for the 12-hour time difference for meetings.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,400.00 – $65,780.26 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Step 1
Apply Online
The NYU Langone hiring process begins with you applying through our online portal. Be sure to update and upload your resume. Shortly after you submit your application, you will receive an email confirmation. Ten days after applying you will receive a talent assessment to be completed.
Step 2
Schedule Interviews
If selected to continue the interview process, HR will reach out via phone or email first. Then, depending on your position, they will schedule an interview with unit managers or team members. You are encouraged to dress professionally for all interviews.
Step 3
Receive Offer
If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.
Step 4
Training & Orientation
You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
