Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Director of Graduate Medical Education (GME).
In this role, the successful candidate The Associate Director for Graduate Medical Education (GME) Wellbeing is responsible for developing, overseeing, and enhancing programs and initiatives that support the wellbeing of the GME faculty and programs. This role will work closely with GME office leadership, the GME Manager for House Staff Wellbeing, program directors, and wellness committees to design strategies that promote psychological, emotional, and physical wellbeing, while ensuring alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards. The associate director will integrate clinical expertise, research, and policy development into their approach.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement/operationalize wellbeing programs for GME faculty and programs, focusing on resilience, burnout prevention, work-life balance, and mental health support.
- Serve as a key resource for faculty and house staff wellbeing, advising on best practices and evidence-based interventions to promote a healthy work environment.
- Collaborate with residency and fellowship program directors to integrate wellbeing initiatives into curricula and clinical practice.
- Create and maintain wellbeing resources for faculty and programs, including access to counseling, peer support, stress management, and wellness activities.
- Lead efforts in offering training sessions and workshops focused on wellbeing topics.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of current wellness programs and identify areas for improvement or expansion.
- Ensure that all wellbeing programs meet the standards outlined by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and other regulatory bodies.
- Develop metrics to assess the impact of wellbeing initiatives and prepare reports for institutional leadership and accreditation bodies.
- Conduct or oversee research projects related to physician wellbeing, with the goal of contributing to the broader body of knowledge on healthcare worker wellness.
- Stay up-to-date with current trends, literature, and innovative practices related to GME and house staff wellbeing.
- Serve as an advocate for faculty and house staff by raising awareness of wellbeing challenges and promoting changes at the institutional level to address these needs.
- Partner with institutional resources such as Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), mental health professionals, and diversity and inclusion teams to provide comprehensive support.
- Build relationships with external organizations and experts to bring in fresh ideas and collaborate on wellbeing initiatives.
- Implement protocols for managing critical incidents and provide immediate support for those affected.
- Respond to acute wellbeing concerns, including crises related to mental health, substance use, or other urgent issues impacting faculty and house staff, and work with GME leadership to identify the appropriate resources to provide support.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Education: Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field with expertise in health and wellness, behavioral health, or organizational leadership.
Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of health, wellness, or medical education, with a focus on mental health or wellbeing.
o Demonstrated experience in developing and managing wellness programs in academic or clinical settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Familiarity with GME program structures and ACGME requirements is highly preferred.
o Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
o Expertise in wellbeing practices, emotional intelligence, and resiliency training and teaching these practices to others.
o Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards related to house staff wellbeing.
o Research and analytical skills to assess program outcomes and make data-driven decisions.
o Ability to manage crisis situations and provide support to individuals under stress.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 – $195,179.92 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Step 1
Apply Online
The NYU Langone hiring process begins with you applying through our online portal. Be sure to update and upload your resume. Shortly after you submit your application, you will receive an email confirmation. Ten days after applying you will receive a talent assessment to be completed.
Step 2
Schedule Interviews
If selected to continue the interview process, HR will reach out via phone or email first. Then, depending on your position, they will schedule an interview with unit managers or team members. You are encouraged to dress professionally for all interviews.
Step 3
Receive Offer
If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.
Step 4
Training & Orientation
You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
