We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Staff Auditor.
Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Internal Audit, with some latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative, the Internal Auditor will conduct financial, compliance and operational audits. Major activities include assisting throughout the audit cycle with planning, the development of audit programs, conducting fieldwork, developing findings and identifying the root cause of observations, and following up on management action plans from prior audits.
Planning – Obtain through research and document relevant internal and external information about the nature of audit engagements through a variety of means.
Work Program – Assist in the preparation and execution of the audit work program, highlighting key controls identified and potential audit procedures.
Field Work – Execute fieldwork in accordance with agreed-upon procedures to determine the design and operating effectiveness of controls, as well as the timely preparation of work papers that support audit results and findings.
Reporting – Develop findings and recommendations, including identification of root causes based upon deficiencies identified during fieldwork to assist in the preparation of a report relative to the results of the audit.
Special Projects – Assist in the preparation, analysis and reporting of findings regarding special projects.
- Follow-Up – Follow-up on management action plans resulting from previous audits, including the performance of testing and validation procedures to verify successful implementation.
BS or BA degree required. High level of written and oral communication, technical and analytical skills. Knowledge of, and ability to identify, sound business practices. Working knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing established by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Knowledge and experience with the use of electronic audit work paper tools and techniques (i.e., TeamMate). The ability to use tools such as MS Excel to perform data analyses to identify potential trends and outliers and solve problems. Must have the ability to multi-task, establish priorities and work independently to achieve objectives.
CIA and/or CPA preferred. Two to three years of audit experience with an accounting firm or relevant financial or operations experience in a hospital, Managed Care company or similar organization. Knowledge of the health care environment the ability to perform technical and data analyses to solve problems. Knowledge of information systems utilized in the health care industry, including implementation and application of these systems.
