The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Service at the Child Study Center (CSC) is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, collaborative, and driven clinical psychologist to work at our Manhattan office. The Child Study Center is part of NYU Langone’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which is one of only two independent child and adolescent psychiatry departments within an academic medical center in the nation.
The focus of the position is on providing evidence–based psychotherapeutic treatments to children, adolescents, young adults and their families in individual, parent training, family, and group modalities. Proficiency in behavioral and cognitive-behavioral therapy, parent management training, social skills support, and diagnostic evaluation of autism and related disorders is required. Advanced training and/or certification in an evidence-based treatment for ASD or co-occurring disorders (e.g. Early Start Denver Model, Facing Your Fears, PEERS®, JASPER, RUBI, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Unstuck and On Target, feeding evaluation and treatment, etc.) is preferred. Candidate will also conduct comprehensive evaluations and proficiency on the ADOS-2 and ADI-R is a plus. Candidate must be willing to conduct workshops for parents, school personnel, and others in the community. Candidate must be available for late afternoon and evening clinical appointments. Options for running group therapies are also available. The position reports directly to the Clinical Director for Autism Service.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing evidence–based psychotherapeutic treatments to children, adolescents and their families in individual, parent training, family, and group modalities;
- Conducting developmental evaluations and autism evaluations using semi-structured psychiatric interviews, cognitive and developmental assessments, language assessments, adaptive assessments, and ASD diagnostic tools. Feedback sessions and writing comprehensive reports that are completed in a timely manner;
- Provide sufficient evening hours to provide appropriate clinical care;
- Providing consultation to schools and other community institutions;
- Contributing and/or leading collaborations focused on improving care for children with developmental disabilities;
- Provide teaching and supervision of residents, medical students, psychology and other trainees assigned by the Clinical Director of the Child Study Center;
- Providing outreach to the professional and lay community (e.g., workshops and webinars);
- Attend at least 80% of the case conferences and grand rounds;
- Maintain 80% attendance at general administrative meetings;
- Completing additional responsibilities, as required.
Minimum Annual Salary: $111,351
Maximum Annual Salary: $116,792
**The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include supplemental compensation or benefits. Actual salary may not fall within the listed salary range; consideration will be made for experience, training, hospital/community need, and other factors.
NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The annual salary range for a junior faculty role is $111,351 to $116,792. Candidates who qualify for higher faculty appointments are also encouraged to apply. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including faculty appointment, credentials, research history, specialty, and health system need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
In addition to the annual salary listed, psychologists are typically eligible for supplemental compensation ranging from $31,300 to $80,000 in the first year of practice.

Schedule Interviews

Receive Offer
If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.
Step 4
Training & Orientation
You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
