Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Health System Assistant Director – Policy Analysis.
In this role, the successful candidate as the Assistant Director Policy Analysis under the guidance of the Vice President of Decision Support, Strategy & Value Improvement (DSS) and Government Reimbursement & Policy Analysis, the Assistant Director of Policy Analysis will be responsible for evaluating the financial implications of federal and state policy changes for NYU Langone Health. This role involves managing and analyzing large datasets, modeling policy impacts, and providing insights to senior leadership to inform financial and strategic decision-making. The individual will work closely with the DSS, Government Reimbursement & Policy Analysis, and Financial Planning teams to ensure the organization is well-prepared to navigate evolving healthcare regulations and reimbursement models. By providing cost accounting, benchmarking, and analytical services as well as partnering with key stakeholders, the DSS team identifies opportunities to implement solutions, informs sound business decisions, and addresses some of healthcare’s most significant challenges. The team is comprised of 20+ team members, 5 clinical leads, and a fully dedicated IT group.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze and model the financial impact of federal and state policy changes on NYU Langone Healths reimbursement structure.
- Maintain and manage large internal and external databases to support policy impact analysis and financial modeling.
- Stay informed on proposed and enacted policy changes, assessing their potential effects on the organizations financial performance.
- Develop and present financial impact assessments to senior leadership, translating complex policy changes into actionable insights.
- Work collaboratively with the decision support and strategy teams to integrate policy analytics into broader financial and operational reporting.
- Assist with contract modeling and financial analysis for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement based on federal and state budgets.
- Quantify policy-driven financial impacts relative to budget projections and financial planning initiatives.
- Recommend strategic and operational adjustments to mitigate potential negative financial impacts from policy changes.
- Develop scenario-based models to evaluate multiple potential policy outcomes and their implications for the organization.
- Communicate complex reimbursement and policy changes effectively to stakeholders across the organization, ensuring clarity and informed decision.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
• Support enterprise-wide reimbursement and financial planning initiatives by providing data-driven insights
• Assist in regulatory reporting requirements and compliance with reimbursement-related financial policies
• Develop and maintain dashboards and visualization tools to track reimbursement trends and policy impacts
• Collaborate with IT and data governance teams to enhance data accessibility and accuracy for financial modeling
• Represent the department in internal and external discussions related to healthcare finance, reimbursement, and policy
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Data Science, Actuarial Science, or a related field, with significant experience in healthcare finance, reimbursement or policy analysis, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• At least 7 years of experience in healthcare finance, reimbursement, policy analysis, or a related field

• Strong proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and large database management
• Expertise in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement methodologies, state and federal healthcare policy, and budgetary impacts
• Experience using SQL, SAS, Python, R, Tableau, or other data analytics tools to analyze large datasets
• Ability to translate complex policy and financial analyses into clear, actionable insights for leadership
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing executive-level reports and presentations
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Health Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), Business Administration (MBA – with a focus on healthcare finance or analytics), Public Policy (MPP), Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 7-10 years of experience in reimbursement policy analysis, with a strong track record of modeling financial impacts
• Direct experience with government payment models, managed care contracting, or value-based reimbursement strategies
• Familiarity with CMS regulatory filings, state Medicaid payment programs, and commercial payer reimbursement methodologies
• Experience working within a large health system, hospital finance department, payer, or consulting firm specializing in healthcare reimbursement
• Advanced proficiency with data visualization tools and predictive analytics techniques
• Knowledge of financial planning processes and hospital budgeting methodologies

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 – $183,750.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Step 2
Schedule Interviews
If selected to continue the interview process, HR will reach out via phone or email first. Then, depending on your position, they will schedule an interview with unit managers or team members. You are encouraged to dress professionally for all interviews.
Step 3
Receive Offer
If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.
Step 4
Training & Orientation
You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
