Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director – Quality & Education
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, leading, and evaluating core/administrative/consultative nursing programs including but limited to professional and leadership development, quality and performance improvement, education and practice,. Collaborates with nursing leadership in the advancement of the nursing strategic plan. Provides leadership and performs evaluation of nursing and related interdisciplinary compliance with all regulatory agencies and the appropriateness of patient care and facilitates resolution of identified issues. Works collaboratively with the Chief Quality Officer in the development, implementation, and evaluation of hospital-wide interdisciplinary quality & performance improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the preparation for nursing response to issues identified during TJC, CMS, NYS Department of Health and other regulatory surveys.
- Articulates understanding of nursing process, interdisciplinary collaboration, quality and performance management, patient safety, continuum of care concepts, customer service and healthy work environments.
- Demonstrates and enhances others understanding of nursing and patient care standards as integral to and supportive of professional practice, professional models of care, participatory leadership, and the values espoused by the Departments of Nursing and the LICH.
- Demonstrates understanding of the value of professional nursing, the conceptual framework in which it is practiced, and the features of an organization that attracts and retains nurses.
- Demonstrates understanding and implications of nurse-sensitive quality and other clinical indicators and provides leadership to nurses at all levels in achieving positive outcomes related to these indicators.
- Provides mentoring and leadership to staff in promoting evidence based practice.
- Leads nursing education, quality and performance programs at the departmental level, supporting service and unit level programs. a. Assists unit based leadership in developing quality and educational initiatives that reflect their specialty and achieve evidence based practice.
- Facilitates the integration of quality and educational programs throughout the hospitals. b. Compiles organization wide outcome data for nursing quality indicators for reporting purposes.
- Coordinates assessment of regulatory compliance for nursing and patient care services and ensures compliance with internal and external regulatory mandates.
- Collaborates with Chief Regulatory Officer to ensure standards are current and compliant with all regulatory requirements.
- Supports unit based leadership by developing and disseminating reports to highlight trending of outcomes.
- Develops and maintains networks with respective external organizations for mutual and benchmarking activities.
- Participates as a representative of the Departments of Nursing at the Hospital Quality Improvement Committee, Patient Safety Committee and other hospital and medical board committees as indicated.
- Provides leadership for nursing education and professional development to ensure that educational programs for all levels of nursing staff promote quality, safety and achievement of hospital goals and meet all regulatory requirements in alignment with nursing strategic plan.
- Serves as consultant and expert in for standards utilizing evidence based literature, regulatory requirements, and pertinent professional nursing standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Licensure: Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York; Education: Bachelors in Nursing: Masters in nursing administration, or related field required; doctorate preferred. Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in acute care nursing; minimum of 3 years of leadership experience; teaching, consultation and project management experience desirable. Competencies: Excellent writing, editing, and graphic skills; excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail; possesses quality and performance improvement methodology; self-directed, understanding of change management, professional practice, project management, and current issues and trends in nursing and health care; Computer expertise in word processing, spread sheets, developing data sets and expertise in analyzing, interpreting and presenting data using graphs, tables, etc. Certification in nursing administration, or quality management desirable..
Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate preferred. Consultation and project management experience desirable Certification in nursing administration, or quality management desirable

Schedule Interviews

Step 3
Receive Offer
If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.
Step 4
Training & Orientation
You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
