Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Part Time Infant Nutrition Associate-TH 9 NICU-Day Shift (33 Hours).
In this role, the successful candidate The Infant Nutrition Associate (INA) is responsible for highly specialized tasks for the preparation, inventory, distribution and management of mother’s breast milk. Both Human Milk (HM) and Donor Human Milk (DHM) will be processed for nutritional needs/additives in supporting the neonate in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The INA will demonstrate competencies relative to infection control principles, appropriate technical calculation (weights and measures conversions, including metrics), knowledge of common medical abbreviations and terminologies, available formula products and human milk additives. The INA will effectively communicate with members of the health care team.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Manages receiving and labeling of mothers HM according to procedure
– Inputs information into the Epic-timeless system
– organizes and performs inventory of HM supply for each patient in refrigerators and
– freezers
2. Cleans work surfaces and equipment prior to HM preparation, and in between each individual patient milk preparation
– Follows aseptic technique
– Follows infection control policies
– Maintains cleanliness of refrigerators and freezers on a daily and as needed basis
– Maintain cleanliness of storage bins (in refrigerators and freezers)
3. Prepares individualized HM feedings following established procedures
– Performs identification of HM containers using bar code scanning
– Thaws, fortifies, and labels bottles of HM
– Communicates with appropriate nursing personnel for needed assistance with daily order
– changes and feeding order clarification
– Uses bottle warmer per policy to either thaw or warm milk
– Weighs formula powder for use as fortifier if needed
4. Stores prepared feedings in patient care unit refrigerators, removing expired HM
– Uses and practices proper storage times and temperatures for HM at all times
– Rotates stored HM to use oldest HM first and to minimize undue wastage
– Daily run the expired milk report and dispose HM both literally & in fact from the Epic-timeless system
5. Delivers HM to appropriate bedside refrigerators and bins
– Removal of the discharged patient bins
6. Monitors daily inventory and orders additional nutrition room supplies as needed
– Stocks nutrition room with all needed supplies
– Monitors expiration dates of open cans of formula
7. Monitors refrigerator and freezer temperatures
– Adheres to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
i. Maintain accurate record of the daily refrigerator and freezer temperatures
– Notifies engineering for assessment of potential/actual problems
8. Participates in department in-services to maintain appropriate competence.
9. Maintains a working knowledge of technical terminologies and classifications as appropriate for the proper completion of job duties.
10. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
. Successful completion of human milk technician orientation including classroom, skill competencies, and tests.
. Annual competency completed to meet job requirements.
. Active ServSafe certification.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a 1. Associate degree required, college degree preferred
2. Ability to read, understand and exhibit basic mathematical skills.
3. Ability to understand and interpret basic medical terminologies.
4. Ability to use computer/software.
5. Organization and detail-oriented..

Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of Formula/Human Milk Technician Training Program

Schedule Interviews

Step 3
Receive Offer
If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.
Step 4
Training & Orientation
You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
