Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Manager – Perlmutter Cancer Center – Mineola.
In this role, the successful candidate will work with Population Health & Health Disparities in Long Island. We are looking for a candidate with a graduate degree in social or behavior science (or related field) with an interest in developing expertise in managing and implementing community-based cancer control and prevention strategies and programs for immigrant and racial ethnic minority populations OR a candidate with a Masters degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience. The candidate will work with faculty in the NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center and in the Department of Population Health.
The candidate will develop and implement strategies related to community engagement and collaboration and the conduct of health disparities research and health equity programming with a special emphasis on cancer prevention and control with a focus on reducing disparities in cancer outcomes among underserved populations in Long Island. This role will involve extensive community engagement, collaboration with local organizations, and data-driven strategy development to improve cancer prevention and early detection efforts. Current areas of research include: community health worker interventions to improve prevention and management of chronic diseases; community-clinical linkage models in hospital and health system settings; community engagement and outreach projects; and implementation and dissemination of evidenced-based interventions in community settings.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist the project Director/Principal Investigator in the planning, development, and implementation of the projects’ goals and objective related to community engagement, implementation and dissemination.
o Devise project plans across projects to be maximally efficient
o Coordinate and carry out the development of research tools and activities.
o Coordinate, implement, and analyze outcomes and activities.
o Manage progress toward deliverables to ensure project goals and objectives are met and appropriate process and impact measures are developed and implemented.
o Create synergy and collaboration across the NYULH system and with external partners
Design and execute comprehensive cancer prevention programs tailored to the needs of diverse communities in Long Island including initiating robust, community-engaged strategic planning processes.
Supervise research staff, including hiring, scheduling, evaluation, ensuring roles and responsibilities are being carried out, and providing support for professional development activities
Develop and administrates program budget, in collaboration with Director/Principal Investigator. Responsible for the budget management and resources allocation. Reviews sponsor-proposed budget for adequate coverage and recommend changes as appropriate. Reviews workflow and recommend improvement if applicable to ensure appropriate cycle times and efficiency. Assists in the preparation of funding reports to funding agencies
Develop and distribute regular reports on program progress, challenges, and outcomes to funders and other multisector partners.
Collect, analyze, and report data related to program outcomes and health indicators.
Prepares and submit grant applications and other grants related and activity such as developing grants applications/proposals and fundraising activities if applicable. Develops business plans to identify areas of research and grant opportunities. Identifies new funding opportunities and sources for research grant. Initiates and manages grants. Develop new IRB protocols and oversees coordinators efforts regarding grant submissions and renewals.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with external and internal regulations and policies, governing data management and data systems, and project-related requirements related to grant funds, including preparation and timely submission of reports for funding agencies
Gathers, collects data from different parties, ensures accuracy and analyzes findings and presents recommendations as applicable. Responds to requests for information, summaries, and data based on information compiled from various sources. Plans, develops materials and presentations for training and educational sessions. Oversees research staff responsibilities in recruitment and retention monitoring of research studies.
Report directly to principal investigators on the progress and accomplishments of project goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Doctorate degree (PhD, EdD, DrPH or equivalent) in public health, psychology, epidemiology or related fields or an MD; OR Masters degree in public health, psychology, epidemiology or related fields with 5 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in community engagement and partnership development. Experience supervising staff members and working in collaborative environments. Strong understanding of cancer prevention strategies and health disparities and well as approaches that focus on the Social Determinants of Health. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects. Must possess efficient time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work with minimal direction and on a self-directed basis as well as in a team setting. Demonstrated interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in English to effectively communicate, collaborate, and establish and maintain good working relationships with a diverse population of multi-disciplinary researchers, faculty and staff. Demonstrated ability to communicate with tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism, and discretion. Familiarity with grants development and submissions, pre- and post-award activities. Demonstrated skill in qualitative data analysis, such as focus groups or semi-structured interviews. Demonstrated skill in written communication that expresses complex clinical and scientific content in understandable terms. Strong desire and commitment to work on racial, ethnic and immigrant health disparities research. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Willingness to travel within Long Island for community engagement activities. Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree and fluency in written and spoken Spanish.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,710.43 – $141,960.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Training & Orientation
