Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Billing Coordinator – *CPC/Radiation Oncology/Mineola*.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of charge submission in the Department of Radiation Oncology Oversee practice operations as they relate to the aforementioned and implement change where necessary Capture all professional charges deposit all checks received and will interact with other Radiation Oncology staff members to ensure that all procedures performed are accurately documented coded and billed Audits charts to ensure all services are documented and billed correctly Reviews and advises physicians and staff with regard to local and national coding and reimbursement policies
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinates, monitors, and maintains the billing activities of the Radiation Oncology department. Demonstrates working knowledge of Radiation Therapy procedures and corresponding CPT codes as related to disease and diagnosis. Builds general knowledge base of policies, procedures and documentation associated with FGP billing using appropriate source material and doing research as needed. Maintains awareness of changes in regulatory and third party guidelines which pertain to billing processes.
- Coordinates, monitors, and maintains the billing activities of the Radiation Oncology department. Ensures timeliness, completeness and accuracy of all charges that are entered into Aria and submitted to the billing company through thorough weekly review of patient charts. Reviews medical records upon completion of treatment to ensure that all services billed have been documented to ensure compliance with government regulations. Identifies and captures missed charges and errors and notifies FGP billing groups and staff in a timely manner. Identifies and analyzes issues and discrepancies and appropriate resolutions are initiated with the billing company. Recommends positive changes and additions to billing methodology and charge capture process to supervisor. Assists in the development and documentation of policies and procedures.
- Facilitates response to patient circumstances based on thorough assessment of the situation. Responds to requests from the professional billing company and patient accounting for patient billing information. Escalates payment schedule issues and initiates hardship process with Department and FGP managers. Maintains the confidentiality of all patient, physician and hospital related information.
- Ensures EPIC work queues are cleared out daily in an efficient and compliant manner.
- Prepares status and ad-hoc reports in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Exercises skill in prioritizing assignments in order to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, assignments, pressures of deadlines, competitive requirements and/or a heavy workload. Demonstrates alertness and adaptability to changing patient and employee conditions and responds appropriately.
- Exercises sound judgment, solve problems and ask supervisor for advice when appropriate. Has the ability to work on multiple projects and deliver them on time and complete.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor s Degree and a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of training and relevant work experience Current medical coding certification CPC required Excellent analytical organizational interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills required Compliance with regulatory requirements i e JCAHO appropriate for position Extensive experience and competency with varied computer hardware and software including word processing spreadsheet database scheduling billing communications and presentation applications Ability to communicate effectively and harmoniously with superiors peers subordinates physicians other Medical Center staff patients their families and the general public in a courteous and professional manner Superior typing skills to prepare correspondence with speed and accuracy Knowledge of insurance companies admission procedures and policies to assist and train staff in completing preauthorization/referral requirements Adherence to departmental and Medical Center guidelines concerning safety confidentiality and rules of conduct as outlined in the Employee Staff Handbook Skill in communicating with patients families physicians nurses staff and peers with diplomacy and tact Knowledge of medical terminology preferably oncology/hematology Ability to recognize and identify problems recognize implications and propose and implement alternative solutions Skill in working independently and in following through on assignments with minimal direction.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,400.00 – $81,137.04 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Schedule Interviews

Receive Offer
If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.
Step 4
Training & Orientation
You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training.
