NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center, providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center—an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility—as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women’s imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices.

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an HR Associate.

In this role, the successful candidate The Human Resources Associate (HRA) will provide comprehensive HR services and support to employees and managers focusing on delivering high-quality customer support, ensuring accurate and timely servicing and processing and assisting in data analysis to improve the employee experience. Handles employee inquiries to the point of resolution ensuring prompt and accurate responses. Serves as back up to various HR disciplines, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • HR Support & Counsel: Provides HR services and solutions support to eligible employees and managers across various HR functions, including onboarding, benefits (including but not limited to health & welfare, retirement, absence and leave management, and time off plans), employee/manager self-service (MSS/ESS), and other aspects of the employee lifecycle. Collaborates with HR colleagues, internal departments, vendors, and systems to address customer needs and positively impact the employee experience.
  • Inquiry Resolution: Responds and follows up on employee inquiries (via email, phone, or in person) in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring timely resolution using available resources.  Assigns salesforce cases and ensures follow up is done and cases are closed.
  • HR Transaction Processing: Reviews and processes HR solutions and transactions (MSS/ESS) accurately and within deadlines. Ensures all transactions are complete, accurate, and have the appropriate approvals. Collaborates with employees, managers, and HR colleagues to address missing or incorrect data and identifies potential solutions in order to resolve recurring processing issues.
  • Onboarding Support: Facilitates onboarding process for new hires by ensuring all pre-hire requirements?such as education and employment verifications, background checks, and I-9 processing?are completed in compliance with regulations. Coordinates onboarding activities and serves as a liaison between candidates, departments, and HR teams. Maintains clear communications and provides guidance to ensure a smooth and positive onboarding experience.
  • Root Cause Research & Troubleshooting: Assists in investigating and troubleshooting employee issues. Supports the analysis of root causes through research and proposal of solutions to prevent similar issues in the future.
  • Escalation Management: Assesses and escalates issues related to onboarding, benefits, and MSS support as needed. Determines when to escalate to a HR Generalist, or higher, and proactively recommends process improvements to minimize the need for future escalations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Assists in identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects, including identifying recurring issues, process enhancements, procedure documentation, and creation of knowledge resources to improve the delivery of support.
  • Special Projects & Reporting: Participates in special projects as needed, ensuring all tasks are completed on time. Provides regular status updates and request clarification when necessary.
  • General Support: Provides back-up coverage for various areas of HR including the front desk as needed.  Offers professional and courteous assistance to staff and visitors, responds and ensures inquiries are addressed and resolved, and supports daily front desk operations during peak times or absences.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Two or more years of college education with at least one year of professional experience in HR or administrative operations. A bachelors degree is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with Internet applications. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and communicate with both internal and external customers. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $43,200.00 – $62,400.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Step 1

Apply Online

Step 2

Schedule Interviews

If selected to continue the interview process, HR will reach out via phone or email first. Then, depending on your position, they will schedule an interview with unit managers or team members. You are encouraged to dress professionally for all interviews.

Step 3

Receive Offer

If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.

Step 4

Training & Orientation

You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
