Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator.

We are seeking a full-time Research Coordinator for the Health x Housing Lab within the Department of Population Health at NYU Langone Grossman School of Medicine. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the Lab’s research studies on topics at the intersection of housing and health, including qualitative and mixed methods studies rooted in community-engaged principles. The Research Coordinator will also be responsible for facilitating engagement with community partners toward the Lab’s tri-fold mission of research, education, and policy, including organizational partners and partners with lived experience of homelessness. This position will report to the co-director of the Health x Housing Lab, Giselle Routhier, PhD, MSW.

The Health x Housing Lab serves as a trusted broker of evidence-based information and guidance for initiatives, practice, and policy sitting at the intersection of health and housing. The Health x Housing (“health by housing”) Lab fulfills its mission through a focus on three key activities: 1) conducting research to build the evidence base for initiatives, programs, and policies at the intersection of housing and health; 2) offering evidence-based advice to inform policy and other interventions related to health and housing; and, 3) providing education to expand the reach of practice-relevant evidence on health and housing. The Health x Housing Lab has a specific focus on homelessness, but its work also encompasses housing instability, quality, supply, and affordability issues. The Lab’s work is guided by a commitment to improving health equity and addressing the role of structural racism in health inequities. The Lab’s work is guided by a commitment to improving health equity and is shaped by an Advisory Committee that includes people with lived experience of homelessness and/or housing instability, as well as other relevant stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

The Research Coordinator will ensure the smooth functioning of Health x Housing Lab research and community engagement projects. Specific duties include but are not limited to: providing overall research project support (including institutional review board submissions, study record keeping, protocol compliance, communication with study partners, and assisting with participant outreach and engagement) and support for community engagement across research and other projects (including organizing meetings, providing administrative and technical support, and facilitating meetings). The ideal candidate will be highly organized, adept in the conduct of research, and have both research and community engagement experience.

1.    Human Subjects’ Research Compliance – Update and submit necessary documents required by the NYU Institutional Board (IRB) and other appropriate parties to obtain and maintain approval to conduct the OATH study and others, as needed. Keep an up-to-date copy of regulatory documents. Maintain organized study records. Track participant enrollment and incentives.
2.    Study Coordination and Support – Assist with study recruitment including coordinating with study sites for potential participant outreach and screen potential participants for eligibility. Conduct quality assurance on data entered into REDCap projects. Maintain and update the study’s manual of operating procedures. Depending on experience and team needs, complete informed consent, conduct qualitative interviews, and conduct preliminary analyses of qualitative data. 
3.    Community Engagement Support – Organize study meetings and community engagement, liaise with study collaborators and other external partners, and maintain communication between the Lab team and external partners.
4.    Reporting and Analysis – Gather and compile data and assist in consolidating/analyzing study-related data for presentation. Provide reports to necessary parties on the progress of the study as needed.  
5.    Dissemination – Assist with activities related to dissemination of study findings, including organizing meetings and presentations with relevant stakeholders, creating slide decks, and prepping co-presenters.
6.    Budgets – Keep accurate records of spending and assist with budget tracking and oversight. 
7.    Continuous Learning – Position requires ongoing continuing learning on managing research studies and communicating with diverse team members. These and other training programs are provided free through the School of Medicine.  
8.   Other duties, as assigned.
 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Organized and reliable; great time management skills; follows through 100% of the time; able to multi-task effectively even under pressure; attention to detail; doesn’t let small mistakes slide by. Familiarity with institutional review boards (submissions, modifications, regulatory handbook, etc.). Prior experience working with research protocols. Prior experience with research and project management. Familiarity with and/or interest in issues related to housing insecurity and homelessness. Effective oral, written, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate level training in public health, social work, public policy, or related fields. Experience with REDCap. Demonstrated experience working with populations relevant to this research including people experiencing homelessness, older adults, and/or work with other marginalized groups. Experience with qualitative research and qualitative research software packages. Preferred bilingual Spanish speaking.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $64,350.00-$70,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Schedule Interviews

Receive Offer

If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. After evaluating the completed references, a decision will be made on who will receive a preliminary offer. If you receive a preliminary offer, HR will start the onboarding process with an agreed-upon tentative start date.

Step 4

Training & Orientation

You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
