Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Program Coordinator.

We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and clinically experienced Program Coordinator to support and expand our ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) and Chronic Respiratory Failure programs. This pivotal role will serve as the operational and communication hub across interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families ensuring seamless coordination of care for a growing and complex patient population.

The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of neuromuscular diseases, respiratory support (including NIV and secretion clearance), and DME processes such as prior authorizations, equipment tracking, and insurance navigation. This individual will play a key role in program development, patient flow coordination, and care continuity, with the opportunity to shape the trajectory of two high-impact specialty programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary ALS clinic and chronic respiratory failure program operations, ensuring smooth patient transitions and follow-up.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between physicians, respiratory therapists, speech/language pathologists, nurses, social workers, and external vendors.
  • Monitor patient care milestones and proactively address gaps in follow-up, equipment acquisition, and clinical documentation.
  • Develop and maintain patient tracking systems for key data points (e.g., pulmonary function trends, DME status, emergency room visits, etc.).
  • Coordinate and track ordering, delivery, and maintenance of respiratory equipment including noninvasive ventilators, cough assist devices, suction equipment, and other respiratory technologies.
  • Manage prior authorizations and supporting documentation for DME with insurance providers, collaborating closely with physicians and vendors.
  • Troubleshoot delays in equipment or service delivery with vendors and ensure timely resolution to minimize care disruptions.
  • Act as a consistent point of contact for patients and caregivers navigating complex care journeys.
  • Educate patients and families on equipment usage and care processes, in collaboration with respiratory therapists.
  • Assist with coordination of home health, palliative, and hospice care services as appropriate.
  • Maintain and streamline clinic workflows, schedules, and documentation templates.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, patient outreach, and data collection for research and reporting needs.
  • Contribute to development of patient education materials, program protocols, and grant/reporting submissions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health care administration or related field.
  • Minimum of four years of progressively responsible related experience including program/project coordination or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Familiar with Internet applications. Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
  • Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to multi task and project manage.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in nursing, respiratory therapy, public health, healthcare administration, or related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in care coordination, case management, or clinical program support in a relevant setting.
  • Experience with neuromuscular disease populations, ALS, or chronic respiratory failure.
  • Strong working knowledge of DME processes, respiratory equipment, prior authorization workflows, and vendor coordination.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with EMRs (e.g., Epic), Microsoft Office Suite, and patient tracking systems.
  • Clinical license (RN, RT, LPN, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary care models, ALS clinics, or neuromuscular/ventilator support programs.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance documentation requirements for respiratory equipment.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 – $94,710.02 Annually. Schedule Interviews

Receive Offer

If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. Step 4

Training & Orientation

You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
