Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Research Scientist.

The New York University Grossman School of Medicines Department of Population Health (DPH) is a dynamic environment of excellence, innovation and growth with faculty across a wide range of disciplines including behavioral and social sciences, epidemiology, health services research, evaluation, biostatistics, and medical ethics with a particular focus on health equity. 
The Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab (HEAL) seeks a Senior Research Scientist to lead quantitative research on substance use disorder, mental health, and related health policy topics. HEAL conducts rigorous, policy-relevant research in partnership with government agencies, healthcare organizations, and community partners to improve treatment quality, access, and outcomes for vulnerable populations.
This position calls for a senior investigator with a doctoral degree and experience in applied quantitative research, particularly using large administrative and Medicaid claims data to evaluate programs, policies, and health system interventions. We are especially interested in candidates with demonstrated expertise in advanced statistics, causal inference, and quasi-experimental methods. The successful candidate will contribute to a growing portfolio of NIH-funded studies, lead analytic teams, collaborate on grant development, and play a major role in producing peer-reviewed publications.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide scientific leadership for the design and execution of quantitative research projects focused on substance use disorder, mental health, and health policy.

• Develop and implement rigorous analytic plans using advanced quantitative methods, including advanced statistics, causal inference, and quasi-experimental methods.

• Supervise and mentor data analysts and research staff working with large administrative, claims, and other secondary datasets.

• Oversee analytic activities across multiple concurrent studies within a multi-grant research portfolio.

• Collaborate with faculty investigators and external partners, including government agencies, healthcare providers, and community-based organizations, on study design, interpretation, and dissemination.

• Lead or contribute substantively to grant proposals, including study design, analytic plans, and preliminary analyses.

• Lead or co-lead manuscript development for peer-reviewed journals and contribute to reports, presentations, and other dissemination products.

• Ensure high standards for data management, reproducibility, documentation, and research integrity.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a PhD and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $85,000.00 – $100,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
