We are seeking a full-time clinical psychologist to join the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at One Park Avenue.  The person will provide expert treatment of child and adolescent disorders with a main responsibility for treating young children with anxiety disorders and behavioral problems and youth throughout the age range with organizational and executive function problems. 

 

This position emphasizes the provision of empirically-supported assessment and treatment in programs developed at the Child Study Center addressing disorders in the Anxiety and ADHD spectrums, focusing on two main conditions – Selective Mutism and Organizational Skills and Executive Function Deficits in varied disorders.  This role requires proficiency in cognitive-behavioral therapy, parent management training, and diagnostic evaluation. The position carries an academic appointment within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which is one of only two independent child and adolescent psychiatry departments within an academic medical center in the nation. Ideal candidates are energetic clinicians with a commitment to clinical and academic excellence and an aptitude and enthusiasm for outpatient practice.

 

The ideal candidate will contribute to the continued growth of the Selective Mutism Treatment Program as well as facilitating advances in the Organizational Skills and Executive Function Treatment Program. Ideal candidates would have experience assessing and treating youth with Selective Mutism, Parent Management Training (PMT), have experience providing Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and serving children with ADHD and related disorders. Proficiency in conducting individual and group therapy in usual and intensive formats, school consultation experience, and family work are preferred. Experience in providing supervision is preferred.  The candidate should be licensed or license eligible in New York and eventually able to provide virtual treatment in other states after obtaining the appropriate certifications.   

 

Work Schedule

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry supports a hybrid work arrangement. This position includes dedicated onsite space at our Manhattan office, with a structured onsite/remote schedule determined by clinical needs and space availability.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and provide timely written documentation
  • Deliver evidence-based treatments to children, adolescents, adults and their families
  • Maintain timely and accurate completion of medical records
  • Offer evening hours as needed to ensure access to appropriate clinical care
  • Fulfill on-call and coverage responsibilitiesProvide teaching and supervision of residents, medical students, psychology and other trainees
  • assigned by the Clinical Director of the Child Study Center
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and contribute to individualized treatment planning
  • Participate in continuing education, including weekly Case Conferences and Grand Rounds
  • Participate in 2-3 direct activities that support our department’s mission to disseminate evidence-based information, including but not limited to providing Child Study Center parent workshops, writing for the website, speaking on Doctor Radio and/or equivalent annually
  • Participate in research activities when appropriate
  • Adhere to the code of ethics of your professional organization and the medical center

Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.  The annual salary range for a full-time junior faculty role is $114,420 to $116,792.  Candidates who qualify for higher faculty appointments are also encouraged to apply.  Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including faculty appointment, credentials, research history, specialty, and health system need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

 

In addition to the annual salary listed, psychologists are typically eligible for supplemental compensation ranging from $31,300 to $80,000 in the first year of practice.

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited institution
  • Completion of APA or CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship
  • Licensed or license eligible in the State of New York

Step 1

Schedule Interviews

Receive Offer

Training & Orientation

On your first day, you will attend an online required orientation to acclimate to the health system and report to your new department based on instructions provided by your hiring manager.
