Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Advanced Post Processing Imaging Specialist (FGP) – Radiology. 

In this role, the successful candidate manipulates digital radiographic data, typically (although not exclusively) CT and MRI, utilizing specialized post-processing software to provide visualization and quantitative analysis of diagnostic and interventional imaging studies. The Specialist is responsible for the creation, measurement, annotation and transfer of post processing image data to and from workstations situated in the imaging lab and elsewhere to locations throughout the medical center in both an accurate and timely manner and utilizes the radiology information system to update scheduling and billing records. The incumbent is expected to have an experienced, practical working knowledge of information networks, operating systems and post processing software commonly utilized in an imaging lab. They require a working familiarity with the radiographic modalities that are commonly post processed and are expected to be well versed in the acquisition and appearance of cross sectional and angiographic imaging. They must have an understanding of basic human anatomy, pathology and medical terminology. They must be able to evaluate the quality and accuracy of the imaging data they are utilizing as well as that of the post processed images they create.The Specialist is expected to have the knowledge and experience sufficient to work independently and autonomously on projects in the imaging lab under the supervision of the Manager and Director. They must be self-motivated and adaptable. They will work directly with physicians, other health professionals, researchers and administrators both within and outside of the medical center

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operates computer software for production of post-processed images from CT, MRI, Angiography and other modality datasets for optimal visualization of patients anatomic structures and pathologic processes.
  • Understands and recognizes the indications for performance of post processing and which imaging studies in the daily radiology department workflow are appropriate.
  • Performs targeted custom and standardized views, manipulates the appearance of the images and performs quantitative measurements.
  • Evaluates the quality and accuracy of the source images and of the post-processed images including recognition of artifacts and other erroneous data.
  • Ensures that images requiring post processing or manipulation are networked to appropriate workstations and that the finished product is networked to PACS and other viewing or archival systems in a timely manner.
  • Works in conjunction with radiologists and other physicians to ensure that the post processed images satisfy the clinical requirements and are of maximal clinical value.
  • Uses the radiology information system to update scheduling and billing records, indicating that a post processing procedure was performed and is associated with the correct exam.
  • Performs routine workflow and special projects in an independent manner.
  • Complies with governmental regulations and NYULMC policies regarding health, safety, and privacy practices.
  • Identifies, repairs as appropriate and reports equipment malfunctions to the Image Processing Lab Manager or Information Technology Staff.
  • Transfers post processed images onto hard copy as appropriate for physicians and other medical center personnel. Assembles and tracks imaging reports as needed.
  • Within guidelines of HIPAA redacts clinical and research studies as necessary.
  • Provides technical and educational consultation to individuals performing research or educational services for the medical school (faculty, post-graduate and post-doctorate researchers, fellows, residents, students and other staff).
  • Assists with the preparation of cases and other materials for publication.
  • Works with industry partners to develop and evaluate new hardware and software products by providing imaging data, technical assistance, functional evaluation and documentation when needed.
  • Performs demonstrations of equipment and software for educational and marketing purposes.
  • Independently and in conjunction with others participates in the instruction of physicians and technologists who are learning advanced imaging applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Must include minimum of 1 year CT or MRI technologist experience, required.
  • ARRT or CRT, required.
  • Advanced ARRT registration in CT or MRI, required.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,299.99 – $105,722.27 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Receive Offer

If you successfully complete the interview process and are identified as a finalist for the position, we will require that you complete a professional reference process. Step 4

Training & Orientation

You will be contacted by an onboarding specialist who will work with you on your pre-boarding requirements. Once fully cleared, we will ask you to complete compliance orientation regulatory training.
