Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Technician.
The Research Technician will work closely with other staff members in the core to provide exceptional service to clients. All staff in the core will continue to develop their scientific knowledge through active participation in meetings, conferences, and relevant training. The Research Technician will report to the Director of the Metabolomics Core Resource Laboratory and to the Research Scientist in daily operation.
The successful candidate will assist in coordinating and carrying out day-to-day operations in the core ranging from sample preparation and data acquisition to data analysis and consultation with clients in conjunction with the director. The candidate will be specifically responsible for performing a variety of complex laboratory tasks according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). The candidate will also carry out method development and implementation of new procedures as well as operation of the LCMS instrumentation. The current position will be focused primarily on grant-funded projects related to influenza vaccine metabolomics, and analysis of human subject research materials.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Organization and management of project related materials
2. Communicate on project logistics with academic collaborators
3. Execution of benchtop procedures: spectrophotometry, plate-based assays, western blot, gels etc
4. Processing of human subjects materials: plasma, urine, fecal, saliva
5. Operation of LCMS systems
6. Analysis of LCMS data
7. Demonstrate knowledge of the organization’s core values
8. Carry out experimental methods according to standard operating procedures
9. Assist senior employees in all advanced procedures
10. Carry out routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
11. Receive and log samples, assist in data acquisition, and data analysis
12. Participates and performs other related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with one year of experience. Advanced (beyond basic lab training will be accepted in lieu of experience as assessed by the hiring Principal Investigator). Effective oral and written communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Past experience with influenza or related viral research
Experience with human subjects material research
Familiarity with academic data analysis software e.g., Python, AWS
One year of experience operating LCMS instrumentation
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $50,000.00 – $56,160.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
