Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Credentialing Assistant, Medical Staff Service.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for performing administrative support activities for physician credentialing Under general supervision assists the credentials coordinators in processing applications and reappointments for physicians and allied health providers which includes verification of licensure education/training board certification current competency disciplinary actions accreditation sanctions and malpractice claims history Also conducts internet queries data entry scanning sorting mail and filing
Job Responsibilities:
Performs clerical duties as required or assigned on an ad hoc basis and provide backup coverage for the Reception area as needed Other nbsp;tasks and projects as assigned which support changing regulatory and business needs
Assists staff with the processing of physician/allied health applications for initial appointment and reappointment and internet queries nbsp;including clinical education/training board certification and eligibility licensure accreditation work history liability insurance and malpractice nbsp;claims history Assesses completeness of information and qualifications relative to established standards Updates physician database nbsp; sProvider/Cactus and other tracking grids with physician demographics; Process demographic updates as received from physicians and nbsp;communicating updates to other departments
Enters data such as delineation of privileges information updating into Cactus database interpreting or adapting data to conform to defined nbsp;data field uses
Assists staff in scanning/emailing peer references hospital affiliations verification letters for processing of each individual application applying established procedural guidelines
Employ public relations skills in a wide variety of phone contacts with external sources for purposes of soliciting information essential to nbsp;credentials investigations including licensing agencies; university and hospital training program personnel; certification boards; insurance nbsp;department; hospital officials and credentials staff; physicians and their office staff
Assists staff with special projects which may include license/document expirations and follow up nbsp;
Assists with file audits organizing and maintain provider files in accordance with established principles of legal documentation and nbsp;confidentiality
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school graduate Relevant experience with computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required
Preferred Qualifications:
Medical staff office experience preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills including knowledge of credentialing Excellent computer skills scanning including word processing and data base maintenance sProvider/Cactus Software preferred Energetic and self motivated with the ability to complete projects independently within established timeframes Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines Ability to cope with interruptions varying personalities rush projects and demanding medical staff Able to prioritize responsibilities Independent judgment and interpersonal relationship skills in working with the staff Medical Staff leaders and other Departments in the NYU Langone Hospitals

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $48,274.09 – $58,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
