Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Associate.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting independent analysis of genome sequence data based on research conducted in the assigned laboratory under the mentorship of a senior scientist Individual is expected to seek to build a portfolio of research accomplishments in preparation for acquiring a higher degree in biomedical research or medicine.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyzes using contemporary statistical genetic tools whole genome and whole exome sequencing data from basic quality control to advanced analysis
- Generates hypotheses and designs analysis pipelines to test them
- Participates in the editing and proofing of grant proposals annual grant reports and manuscripts for publication and recommends modifications to the Principal Investigator
- Contributes to the preparation of articles on research outcomes and progress and to the submission of same for publication
- Reads and understands relevant scientific literature
- Presents findings at lab meeting responds to challenges and participates in exchanges of ideas to advance the science
- Demonstrates a significant level of intellectual input into the design of the project
- Communicates results and collaborates with other professionals in the lab
- Prepares figures and diagrams for presentations and publications
- Based on results independently suggests and tests modifications to protocols
- Records all findings in a laboratory notebook analyze and interpret findings from the analysis
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a College graduate with a B S or B A in Biomedical Sciences Genetics Computational biology or relevant field We seek someone with proficiency in R and Python based analysis tools and handling large datasets in an UNIX environment A minimum commitment of two years is required and placement in position may not exceed three years
Preferred Qualifications:
B S /B A or M S in Biomedical Sciences Bioengineering Genetics Computational biology or relevant field Experience with handling of large genome sequencing datasets like UK Biobank All of US is desired

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $44,371.60 – $53,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
