Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Technician.
In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with the laboratory Principle Investigator and Post-Doctoral or Graduate Researchers to accomplish the research objectives of the lab, participating in original biomedical research in the field of cancer and metabolism. In addition to experimentation, duties will include management of laboratory supplies, assisting with equipment maintenance, attending and participating in group and project meetings, contributing to scientific publications and accepting ownership for accomplishing new tasks. Optimal for recent graduates transitioning to PhD or MD programs in 2+ years.

Job Responsibilities:
- Lab Duties – perform bench work, animal work, and cell culture under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision. Assists postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in laboratory procedures. Expected to coordinate the repair and preventive maintenance of lab equipment and assist with maintenance of laboratory inventories and regulatory compliance. Additionally, is expected to assist in experiments using established protocols and procedures, and records results of experiments.
- Judgment/Decision-Making – Is able to recognize problems as they occur; and through the application of appropriate policy/ procedure, determine and/or recommends the appropriate solution. Seeks guidance as necessary for the performance of duties asks appropriate questions when in doubt and utilizes reference sources/materials to endure accuracy. Advises appropriate personnel of situations/problems requiring intervention or follow-up attention.
- Communication/Relationship with Others – Communication/Relationship with Others – Cooperates, communicates and relates well to other laboratory members. Attends laboratory meetings and coordinates laboratory activities. Listens carefully to others in order to respond appropriately, answer questions or obtain needed information. Communicates ideas, problems, suggestions, and messages in a timely and effective manner.
- Assist in Developing Procedures – Assists in implementing new procedures and protocols to support experiments. Participates actively in developing, recommending and implementing new approved procedures, or modifications to existing protocols and procedures. Maintains and updates technical knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with one year of experience. Advanced (beyond basic lab training will be accepted in lieu of experience as assessed by the hiring Principal Investigator). Effective oral and written communication skills required.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $50,000.00 – $54,600.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
